Mangalore know for its roof tiles, which is quiet famous here. The city roofs are covered with these tiles.These tiles still define Mangalore's skyline and characterize its urban setting.They are a popular form of roofing and are preferred over concrete due to their good quality.Sharing with you all the experience of visiting Sovereign Tiles Mangalore 1929.

Mangalore tiles (also Mangalorean tiles) are a type of tile native to the city of Mangalore, India. The tiles were first introduced to India in 1860 by a German missionary. Since that time, the industry has flourished in India with these red tiles, prepared from hard laterite clay, in great demand throughout the country.

They are exported to Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and the Far East and even as far as East Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia.These were the only tiles recommendeded for government buildings in India under the British Raj.

The Tiles are separated with the help of workers who try to listen to the sound made by hitting the tiles.which is segregated on the basis for Good, better and best quality and sold at a price of Rupees  8.38, 11.45 and 14.95 respectively.

Despite Lot of hardships the factory is still working with few dedicated workers, creating awareness among people for healthy benefits of Mud Roof Tiles these  roof remains for 100 years if used properly.
